Day 1:
Arrived in Split! Took the 20 min bus from the airport to the city centre. Walked along the water to our hostel.
When we got closer to the "Old Town", it started to smell like eggs. We found out later that Diocletian's palace was built near sulfur springs. It's a very hard smell to get use to...
Connor and I checked in at our hostel. We were pleased with the clean bunk beds with curtains and spacious lockers. We walked into town to grab a bite to eat.
After dinner, we walked through Diocletian's palace then bought a bottle of wine and two cigars and found a nice rock to sit on overlooking a most beautiful view. A good way to relax and celebrate our vacation within a vacation!
Went to sleep around 11pm.
We were all very skeptical about getting on this plane... Didn't want to end up in Malaysia! Once we boarded, we found out that Czech Airlines bought the plane 3 days ago and hadn't painted it yet.
Day 1: NIGHT
The following was written between 4-6am:
I woke up at 2am because of the worst snoring I've ever heard in my life. Seriously, I could smack this person with my pillow and feel absolutely no remorse.
But instead...during this time, I looked up resorts in Split. I decided that Connor and I will be staying at the Radisson Blu for our last night in Split instead of coming back to this hostel for one last night after we visit Hvar and Brac island before going to Rome. This hostel is extremely nice, clean, and cheap...but I'm tired of 6-8 person rooms with rogue snorers. So I'm going to splurge on a hotel room. Trust me when you see pool and beach pics from the resort you'll understand the splurge. Not to mention the real reason...just to get a good night's sleep.
I finally woke up Connor at 3:30am to get my headphones out of his bag. Connor would have probably continued to sleep through the snoring had I not woken him up. But once he was up, there was no turning back. Connor was very close to waking up the snoring person.
It's 4:15am and 3 of the 6 people are awake.
Connor keeps making me laugh. He's so angry! Like fire in his eyes angry!
The sunrise is at 5:13am and I think that's when I'm getting out of this room. I'm going mad.
It's 5:06am...Connor and I are Facebook messaging. He now can't sleep because of the birds.
At 5:30am, I got out of bed.
By 6:30am, Connor and I had enjoyed a peaceful cup of tea in the lounge as we got ready to explore Split.
Also, I booked the hotel.
Day 2
Needless to say, we started our day extremely early!
"On thousand years anniversary of the first mentioning of fishing in Croatia."
Crop tops in Croatia!
We walked between 3-4 miles before sitting down for a coffee...that turned into a piña colada and a banana colada.
First ice put in our water all trip!
