We graduated...Time to start packing!

We graduated from the University of Texas on May 17, 2014. It was one of the most memorable days of our lives! We had the great fortune of having Naval Admiral William H. McRaven speak at our commencement ceremony. He lead the mission to capture and kill Osama bin Laden. His speech is definitely worth a listen:Admiral McRaven's Commencement Speech to the Class of 2014

If you don't have 19 minutes of time to listen (even though we HIGHLY suggest it), we'll give you a quick recap of the 10 lessons we learned from Admiral McRaven's speech.

1) Start each day with a task completed.
2) Find someone to help you through life.
3) Respect everyone.
4) Know that life is not fair.
5) You will fail often.
6) Take some risks.
7) Step up when times are toughest.
8) Face down the bullies.
9) Lift up the downtrodden.
10) Never ever give up!

Such inspiration! We can't wait to start sharing the lessons we learn during our time abroad with you! But for now, it's time to pack:)

All of our clothes and personal items must fit into two backpacks, a purse, and a small sling backpack. Our complete packing list is included below. Maybe this list will help some of our friends who are traveling this summer!

Everything fits nicely into the packing cube that Alex gave us!
We head off to Europe in less than one week. So naturally, we wanted to try out our backpacks. We packed them up with everything we will need for the trip and went for a walk.

Unfortunately, our walk only lasted 10 minutes because we got too tired. Well "lazy" might be a more accurate word! Surely, the allure of all the new sights in Europe will give us the extra energy we need. But in the mean time, we should probably start working out!

Sam's 55L backpack weighs 17 lb. and Connor's 70L backpack weighs 25 lb.

Our flight to London leaves Houston on Tuesday, June 3 at 6:05 p.m. We are scheduled to arrive at Heathrow airport at 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4. Less than a week away!!

We will do our best to share pictures with you during our down time. We apologize in advance if we are bad at updating yall. We can only do so much blogging while we're exploring the world!

Thanks for reading,
Connor & Sam
